An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has arrived in Rome, Italy, continuing its diplomatic mission after a significant visit to France. The delegation aims to strengthen India’s international alliances and build consensus on global issues like terrorism, particularly in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
During their Paris stop, the delegation met with members of the India-France Friendship Group and the French Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, where they conveyed India’s firm stance on counterterrorism and sought greater international alignment in holding Pakistan accountable for its support of terror networks.
“We are together with India in the fight against terrorism,” French senators told the delegation, as per Ravi Shankar Prasad. “France and India, and the entire democratic world, must speak in one voice.”
Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio, Vice-President of the India-France Friendship Group in the French Senate, called terrorism a shared threat and emphasized the need to act collectively to protect democracy and liberty.
“We recalled our strong bilateral ties and expressed full support for India’s fight against terrorism. It is a menace that concerns us all,” she said.
Now in Rome, the Indian delegation will continue engaging with European leaders, highlighting India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and drawing attention to Pakistan’s state-supported role in cross-border attacks. The visit is part of India’s diplomatic campaign following Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the deadly Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives.
The delegation includes MPs from various political parties, reflecting national unity on the issue. Along with Ravi Shankar Prasad, the team comprises:
- Daggubati Purandeswari, MJ Akbar, Ghulam Ali Khatana, and Samik Bhattacharya (BJP)
- Amar Singh (Congress)
- Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena – UBT)
- Pankaj Saran, former Indian diplomat
This is one of seven multi-party delegations formed by the Indian government to counter global misinformation, push for accountability in international forums, and reaffirm India’s determination to root out terrorism wherever it originates.
